Gemini Enterprise: What It Is and Why SA Businesses Should Care in 2026

Claude Team billing is simple until the first month someone joins, someone leaves and someone buys extra usage. Then finance gets three receipts, a bill that didn't go down, and a question for whoever signed up. This guide explains how billing on Anthropic's Claude Team plan actually works: when you're charged, what proration does, why removing people doesn't save money straight away, and where to find the invoices.
If you're still choosing a plan, start with Claude Team vs Enterprise. This page assumes you're on Team, or about to be.
Four rules cover most of it:
Only Owners and Primary Owners can buy seats or open Organization settings > Billing. Payment is by credit, debit or prepaid card only: Team doesn't support ACH, bank transfer or invoicing on net terms. (Source)
| Seat type | Billed monthly | Billed annually |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | USD 25 per member per month | USD 20 per member per month |
| Premium (5x Standard usage) | USD 125 per member per month | USD 100 per member per month |
Team needs at least 2 members and supports up to 150 seats, and you can mix seat types. These are Anthropic's US prices, excluding tax; pricing, currency and tax handling vary by region. (Source)
New seats are prorated for the rest of the billing cycle and charged to your card immediately, on a separate seat-change invoice. The same goes for moving a member from Standard to Premium: that's a reassignment rather than a new purchase, and you pay the price difference for the rest of the cycle straight away.
A rough example: on a monthly plan, adding one Standard seat halfway through the month costs about USD 12.50 now (half of USD 25), then the full USD 25 from the next renewal. On an annual plan, the same seat added halfway through the year costs about half of USD 240 up front. (Source)
This is the one that catches people. Removing a member triggers no credit or refund. Their seat stays paid for and becomes free for someone else to use.
To actually pay for fewer seats, an Owner has to reduce the plan's total seat allocation. That change takes effect at your next renewal, which on an annual plan is the annual renewal date. Moving people from Premium down to Standard works the same way: it's scheduled for renewal, not refunded now. (Source)
Two practical tips:
Each Team seat has its own usage limit. When someone hits it, they can keep working if an Owner has enabled usage credits (sometimes called extra usage):
Each credit purchase, including auto-reloads, is charged separately from your subscription, so a month with credit top-ups produces more than one receipt. That's normal, not a double charge. (Source)
These are a different thing from usage credits, and they're free. Every Team seat earns monthly API credits for building on the Claude Platform:
For a team that's prototyping its first agent, that's a useful free budget. Nobody should plan production workloads around it. (Source)
Invoices are emailed to your billing address with the subject "Your receipt from Anthropic". Owners can also open Organization settings > Billing, click View next to an invoice, and choose Download invoice. Expect four kinds of document:
| Document | When it appears |
|---|---|
| Subscription invoice | At the start of each billing cycle, monthly or annually |
| Seat-change invoice | Immediately, when seats are added or upgraded mid-cycle |
| Usage credit receipt | Each time credits are bought or auto-reloaded |
| Credit note | When part of an invoice is refunded, for example tax after tax-exempt status is approved |
Three admin details worth knowing:
Prices exclude tax, and so does the Projected total on your Billing page, so the invoice will be higher than the figure you saw. Tax is calculated from your organisation's billing address, so make sure it's your registered business address. Tax-exempt organisations can't set that up at signup: send proof to Anthropic Support after subscribing, and approved tax comes back as a credit note.
For South African companies, three more things:
When someone moves from a personal Pro or Max plan to Team, Anthropic cancels the personal subscription and refunds the unused time after the Team payment goes through. To keep a personal plan, choose "Keep your personal account separate" when setting up the team. Subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store work differently. Either way, decide your policy on personal accounts before rollout, because those accounts sit outside your admin and data controls.
Briefly: Enterprise bills seats annually only, the seat fee includes no usage, and every token is billed at API rates, either prepaid in credits (self-serve) or invoiced monthly in arrears (sales-assisted). Self-serve Enterprise seats can't be removed mid-term. The full comparison, including when Enterprise is worth the extra cost, is in Claude Team vs Enterprise. (Source)
Billing is the admin. The return comes from what your team builds with Claude: the workflows it takes over and the systems it connects to. As a member of Anthropic's Claude Partner Network, we plan and run Claude rollouts through our Claude implementation service, from seat planning and spend caps to agents wired into your own data.

Claude Team and Enterprise seats can both cost USD 20 a month, but only one includes usage. Here's how seats, usage, payment and controls really differ, and which plan to start on.
